About

Introduction
The National High School Basketball Association (NHSBA) provides young people in grades 9th-12th with opportunities to compete against students in other cities around the country. Our aim is to ensure today’s high school students are prepared for their opportunities to excel. The NHSBA believes students can achieve success on the court and in the classroom. We provide them with the skills and mentoring they need to achieve. We promote academic achievement, commitment to excellence, and old-fashion hard work. The NHSBA’s program offers athletic training, educational opportunities, character development and life tips.

Mission Statement
Our interactive and balanced approach give student-athletes the skills and confidence they need to succeed in and out of school. The National High School Basketball Association (501c3) is about balancing athletics and academics. Our goal is to increase the number of students who graduate from college by providing the skills and knowledge they need to achieve before they enter college.

Health and Fitness
The National High School Basketball Association will be working with young people 9th-12th grade through their health and fitness program. The goal of this program is to help young people to make healthy choices and staying active in order to avoid health risk down the road, like diabetes or obesity. Students will go through fitness exercises, basketball fundamental skill training, and just have good competitive fun, while also concentrating on the academic and mentoring side of our program.

History
When Deuntate was a student at the University of Central Arkansas, he noticed high school athletes having trouble transitioning from high school to college. Having been a high school athlete himself and a college student, he understood how difficult it could be to be a star on the court and a star in the classroom. He decided to create an organization that focuses on increasing both academic performance in the classroom and stamina on the court. He wants student-athletes leading successful lives after high school. Deuntate believes by offering a program that combines sports, academics, and community service he will see young men and women achieving their dreams.

The National High School Basketball Association (NHSBA) was founded by Deuntate Copeland in 2006. Under the guidance of the NHSBA Board of Directors, Deuntate operates the NHSBA with grant funding, private donations, and corporate sponsorships. By 2012, the NHSBA plans to expand and each year increase student enrollment. Come be a part of this exciting program.
